THE EVEN COUPLET
A special remembrance of “The Odd Couple” - BRT's 2010 Spring Show
by Mary "Florence Unger" Armstrong

Original Artwork by Allison Barrows

Florence, still tense, has a back stress attack
Poor Olive, her spirit is about to crack.

Believe it or not, this show does end well
The couple has split - and each friend can excel.

Sylvie had twins and now buys for Mattel.
Vera inspects and critiques fine hotels.

Mickey's now Captain of her own division.
Renee's new beau is a gallant Parisian.

Manolo and Jesus have moved on past Flo.
Dancing With the Stars feature them as The Bro's.

Olive and Phil reached a respectful state -
And Co-host a Sports Trivia Show that's first rate

Florence has cleaned up her act so to speak.
She runs the El Greco Café - so unique!

BRANCH RIVER THEATRE

Playing around for more than 40 years ...

Unger And Madison are at it again. Only this time they are Florence Unger and Olive Madison playing the neat-freak and slob. This version has Olive inviting the girls over for an evening of Trivial Pursuit rather than the poker game that begins the original version and the English Pidgeon sisters have been replaced by the hilarious Spanish Constanzuela brothers. If you think you've seen The ODD COUPLE, wait until you see the female version!

Branch River Theatre invites audiences to come witness the confusion and hilarity when one seemingly ordinary man tries to balance two lives and two wives in Ray Cooney's Run for Your Wife to be directed by Lori Goldring.

John Smith seems like any other normal cabbie, except for the fact that he is secretly juggling two wives with the help of his determination and a carefully kept schedule. Run for Your Wife follows John as he is brought home the morning after having been hit on the head while breaking up a mugging. In his dazed confusion, he has told the police and the hospital two different "home" addresses and has been brought home to the wrong wife at the wrong time. Now he must employ the help of his unemployed and hapless neighbor, Stanley Gardner, in a madcap race against two detectives and his own lies to keep each of his wives unaware of the other.

Cooney's Run for Your Wife is a classic farce in the vein of Michael Frayn's Noises Off or Shakespeare's Comedy of Errors. Outlandish characters, a quick plot and unlikely event whip the cast and the audience into a hilarious frenzy by the end of the show. Indeed, the colorful characters, mistaken identities, and manic efforts to conceal or expose the truth in Run for Your Wife will keep people both guessing and laughing until the final curtain."

Florence and Olive or Ollie and Flo
Whatever the order - the Combo's aglow.

The sizzling begins with their game night girl friends
There's bitchin' and moanin', but friendship transcends.

Mickey and Vera are team mates tonight
Renee and Sylvie need Olive's sports might!

Florence is having another life crisis.
Some are surprised while others expect this.

The story continues at Olive's apartment
With Puratron power and fresh disinfectant!

The gals are awaiting their first double date
But Olive and boys are way beyond late.

From top to bottom, the Capon is burned -
Jesus and Manolo show sensitive concern.
